May 22,2015 12:50

Our team for “What? Where? When?” has travelled to Belarus on borrowed money

Chairman of the “Yerevan Club of Intellectual Games” NGO Eva Makhmuryan (in the photo) has an extensive experience in training the teams for “What, Where, When” game. She in particular trains the school teams for “What, Where, When” game. In the conversation with “Aravot”, Eva noted that the European Junior Championships is held the Belarus city of Gomel every year, this year, the “Armenia’s youth team” and another team have got the right to represent our country. The Chairman of the Club informed that each time they are forced to collect funds from different individuals and institutions to attend the Intellectual Contest, and they are not always successful. Eva Makhmuryan added that this year they are also travelling on borrowed money, moreover, only 4 people from the group can travel for various reasons, plus the funding. They were supported by individuals, last year the Ministry of Education has supported, this year, it was not possible.

Eva Makhmuryan speaks of the children whom she trains candidly. “They are very good children aged 14-18. I am training children of different ages, starting from 12 years old.  Chairman of “Yerevan Club of Intellectual Games” NGO says that in the past few years, Armenia’s teams participate in the tournament outside of Armenia, for a couple of years, she had accompanied the children. In Eva Makhmuryan’s words, the level of the Armenian teams is quite high, but still there is no match with the Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian teams, because they are trained very well. Although, according to our interlocutor, our teams have been better improved in recent years and do not have language barriers, because the language of the game is Russian, and the matches in the Yerevan Club are held in Russian, so that the children can properly present themselves at the international platforms. Participation in “What, Where, When” game, according to our interlocutor, simply hardens the children, they develop and acquire new experience, and the interaction with participants from other countries is an incentive to move forward.

As for the “Armenia’s youth team”, it is playing for one year with the current staff. As told by Eva, the only girl of the team appeared in the group because of the love. Before that, she was playing in another team, and by the decision of the captain of the team, she was moved to the other team. “But by and large, no one’s heart is “broken” because at this age, love lasts two weeks, a month at the most,” says the Chairman of the “Yerevan Club of Intellectual Games” NGO Eva Makhmuryan with a smile.
