According to information security expert Tigran Kocharyan, there are numerous users opened daily by the Azerbaijani special services, who appear in the Armenian field. Note that the NSS reported that Azerbaijanis with the Armenian names and last names have appeared. Referring to this news, Mr. Kocharyan noted, it would be good if the sources were also mentioned in the report, stating which accounts are closed related to this case. “Because there are many people with the same names and last names and these innocent people are now in suspicion.”
As said by the expert, people become more vulnerable in the social networks. For instance, when an Armenian user posts his photos taken during his military service on his page, after respective research, it is easily possible to find out who else have served with him, what weapons they have used, who are on vacation and other similar information. “It is necessary to be very attentive and careful on the social networks, and to communicate only with the people whom you have seen at least once in your life and are familiar with him because it’s hard to know whether this person is your fellow man or an enemy.”
But for comparison, Mr. Kocharyan said that in the sense of awareness, the users now are more progressive than let’s say some five or six years ago. “In those times, the social networks were new in Armenia while the Ministry of Defense and other agencies had an older way of thinking and could not understand where the dangers may come. At those times, the soldiers were photographed during the years in service and were posting these photos on their pages, and now, this phenomenon has almost vanished, even when the soldiers are photographed, the people who understand explain to them about the dangers.”
