The National Assembly hosted the co-rapporteurs on Armenia of PACE Monitoring Committee, Axel Fischer and Alan Mill. They had meetings with representatives of the parliamentary opposition factions. During the meeting with PAP, the co-rapporteurs were curious about Gagik Tsarukyan and the events of February.

In this respect, in the interview with Aravot.am, head of “Prosperous Armenia” faction, Naira Zohrabyan, said that they had discussed 2 main issues: Armenia’s domestic political situation and the position of the political parties on constitutional amendments. “We together with our faction MPs have presented our position, we have mentioned that our political agenda has not changed and it remained the same regarding the constitutional amendments, i.e. PAP is against switching to parliamentary governance system. As for the amendment of certain provisions of the Constitution, which is in the domain of the interests of the Venice Commission – the procedure for appointing judges and human rights, here as PAP has said, we are ready to present specific recommendations, but not regarding the change in the governance model.”

To our question of specifically what the co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee were curious about the events of February, Naira Zohrabyan said, “There was a brief reference to these events. They said that they accept Gagik Tsarukyan’s official announcement pertaining to leaving the politics as a base. There was no other reference. They have said that Gagik Tsarukyan’s announcement is there, and if there is nothing else to say, then they accept this announcement as a base.” This meeting was also attended by PAP faction members Elinar Vardanyan, Stepan Margaryan and Vahan Babayan.
