We asked Azerbaijani political analyst Zardusht Alizadeh whether the recent calmness in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is due to the first European games hosted in Azerbaijan. He said, “Certainly. This first of all proofs that the process is completely controllable, these skirmishes, killings and the snipers’ work are executed only by the order of the command. If no soldiers are killed, there are no gun-fires and major incidents, it means that the Azerbaijan’s, Armenia’s and Russia’s authorities have agreed to maintain calmness in the meantime.”
What will happen in the border after the end of the European Games? In response to this question, Alizadeh replied, “As the master will say. The master is sitting in Moscow, the master will tell his lackeys in the South Caucasus, hey guys, start fighting, and they will begin fighting.”
