Tevan Poghosyan. “The audit in ENA does not yet mean cancelling the decision.”

June 27,2015 17:15

RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement that an audit might be conducted in the ENA and the rumors that during the audit, the Public Services Regulatory Commission’s decision should be cancelled, – clarified NA parliamentarian Tevan Poghosyan in the interview with Aravot.am. Tevan Poghosyan said that conducting an audit does not yet mean that the decision on the price hike is automatically cancelled. Mr. Poghosyan said that the audit may take several months, while the decision on the price hike will enter into force on 1 August. And to cancel the decision on electricity price hike, a special decision is required saying that the decision of the Committee should be frozen until the audit is completed.

Mr. Poghosyan noted that the international companies should conduct the audit. To the point, it must have several directions. According to the MP, first and foremost, ENA’s financial component should be audited, to determine whether there had been on kickbacks, corruption and the abuses. In addition, auditing should be conducted throughout the system, in the ENA’s partner companies and, ultimately, a diagnosis should be given to the ENA’s operation, accordingly, to suggest the so-called healing mechanisms. According to Mr. Poghosyan, this audit should reveal whether or not there was a theft and return the stolen money back to the system for healing. The MP also mentioned that there should be an audit on the ENA’s poor management and the experts would submit a plan and a proposal for the improvement of the management, in other words, to develop an Action Plan. Ultimately, according to the parliamentarian, it should be clarified how it happened that the company making a profit accrued a 250 million in debt.
