Lyudmila Sargsyan. Russia made serious conclusions

July 02,2015 14:47

Quite a few people so far are in Baghramyan Avenue at this point, the crowd is mainly hiding in the shady parts of the Avenue and relaxing. At this moment, the Chairwoman of the Reorganized Social Democrat party, NA MP Lyudmila Sargsyan is wondering in the Avenue. In the interview with Aravot.am, Ms. Sargsyan aggressing the already ten-day rebellion of the RA citizens, said that “all those who believe that they have come to Armenia as a virgin land to sow and reap, they clearly understood that the looting and plundering will not be possible in Armenia. The world understood  that we are a nation rather than people living in the region and are able to defend our national interests and civil rights.” Our interlocutor considers the most important thing that the RA citizens become self-organized, came to Baghramyan Avenue with a specific demand.

Lyudmila Sargsyan condemns the actions of the police officers who used force against the demonstrators on the very first day. She hopes that in the framework of the criminal case filed, the police officers who exceeded their powers will be punished. In that sense, she considers it positive that there are also people in the government sector who are thoughtful and believe that the police using disproportionate force should bear responsibility. The most important outcome of the movement, however, our interlocutor believes that Russia made major conclusions: Armenia’s security and interest is not only Armenia’s but also Russia’s and whether it wants or not, it should recognize Armenia as an independent state.

In this sense, she considers the audit at the ENA as an achievement of the movement, the handover of Permyakov to the Armenian side, repatriation of Hrachya Harutyunyan to Armenia, the loan to Armenia by Russia for the military base. “Russia realized that a moment may come that the situation would become uncontrollable and it would lose one of its very few friends, Armenia. Let them know that there is such a threat and they should treat Armenia with respect and dignity.” The opposition MP is not sure that the audit would reveal something, but she thinks that it will be a period of a pause, which will enable the Government of Armenia to obtain money and to preserve the electricity price.

She is sure in one thing that the participants of the plunder should be punished. In fact, there is information that the Russian Prime Minister has already spoken about filing a criminal case against Bibin. She sees the best and ultimate solution in the nationalization of the ENA, which henceforth will void our country from various abuses by “guest-actors”. “The authorities should be able to make this wave of people’s discontent serve the state interest.” Lyudmila Sargsyan believes that “No to Plunder” coordinating group was successful to register major results.

As for the people left in Baghramyan Avenue, the MP believes that these people have the right to doubt on the moves by the authorities, it is what the authorities earned over the course of these years. “I think over the time they will also be moved to Freedom Square to continue the fight there effectively. People are getting fewer day by day. But Baghramyan Avenue was blocked by the people and they are the ones who should make the decision to open it: when and how, it is a matter of time. They need to think smart and calculate the right and wrong, continuing to fight with dignity to consolidate in one place, or to exhaust the movement by becoming fewer day by day. I would not like people to have to abandon the Avenue because of lack of people, but to abandon as a result of their own decision,” said she. Lyudmila Sargsyan also added, “It is already obvious that the pro-Western politicians and forces are trying to increase their influence in Baghramyan Avenue, I call on the crowd not to surrender to the emotions and not to make others’ opinions dominant for them.”
