To be on the “side” is temporary and relative

July 02,2015 18:00

It is a function and not a destiny.

Why do you put an equal sign between the sides? I am asked this question quite often. By saying “sides” they mean, let’s say, the protesters and the police, or the government and the opposition. The answer is obvious, because to be “for” is a temporary function. And the constant status is to be a citizen in the state and a man in the Earth planet.

When the Azeri organize the next provocation on the border, one person is dying from our side, while 10 from their side, this to be honest, neither causes happiness to me nor console. Because the deceased Azerbaijani soldier is similarly a person for me, as well as our soldier. The functions are different, they are attacking, we are defending and we have to destroy them. The Azerbaijanis have assumed this function, because their leadership is in the illusion that they can conquer our land. In other functions, the Armenian and the Azerbaijani are ordinary neighbors, and even now, let’s say, are reliable business partners in Russia. At this moment, we are the “sides” in conflict, but generally, our “side” is one – the humanity.

Just as the domestic political “sides”. When during the tenure of the first or the second presidents, the police and Yerkrapahs were beating someone, or the officials were plundering the state, whose side were they, and now, when their supporters are condemning for the same things, are they from the opposite side? (Certainly, they may argue that they were acting on legitimate bases and now they are not legitimate, but no one takes them seriously). Does not it turn out that to be on the “side” is strongly temporary and relative category. Or, how many times does the “Rule of Law” party appear on this-or-that “side”? Should we estimate it every time depending on which side it is? (Again, you may say that the RoL party is not sincere. And which of the political parties is sincere?). If the political forces are not equal to each other, then we, I think, have the right to put a sign of equality between them.

Like there are no eternal enemies, so as there are no eternal “sides”, eternal victims and eternal executioners, there are no monsters and angels, and in all circumstances, it is necessary to try awakening the bright and positive aspirations of the soul in all, even the most horrible perpetrators. I am putting a sign of equality between all people. Do you remember, in the novel “The Master and Margarita,” Pilate was furious on Yeshua about why he calls everyone a “kind man.” The Vicar of Rome brings the example of centurion Mark by the nickname “rat-killer” who, in everyone’s opinion, is a perfect beast. Yeshua Ha-Notsri answers as follows, certainly, Mark is kind, simply kind people have beaten him so much that he is crippled.

It is not an infantilism, it seems to me that it is the only correct approach that the carrier of Christianity culture can adopt. I do not understand what it means to be by the police or the “people”, all of them are citizens of Armenia. Otherwise, it turns out that when, let’s assume, the term of the young man’s military service expires, he becomes a “people’s” representative, and if, let’s assume, a young man decides to serve in the police, he terminates being the child of his own people. Yes, both “sides” conduct illegalities to this or that extent. But it is not due to the fact that there is an insurmountable abyss among them.

The reason is that they (i.e. we) were not able to create such a state system where these illegalities are punished, and also be intolerable by the public level. This is why I am putting the sigh of equality between all of them.
