This was not your fight

July 06,2015 15:43

The social fight in Baghramyan Avenue against the electricity price hike takes nowhere, it is necessary to demand Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation. This was the message of the last days’ political “concerned” forces to our society.

Those concerned “by the government program” about not making the fighters for 7 drams into “minions” are busy with giving advice about what actions need to be taken to avoid the fighters for 7 drams to become “minions”. The ANC with its campaign machine that “dismantled” the ruling pyramid and implemented the “bourgeois democratic revolution” is particularly active on this matter, as well as some groups and individuals who exerted great efforts to gather the crowd in the street, but never reached the results.

We may understand the supporters carrying out a palace coupe in Armenia by Gagik Tsarukyan and Robert Kocharyan’s possible return. Their nerves do not stand too: they were waiting for several years with holding their breath about when the Kremlin should carry out a regime change in Armenia, to overthrow Serzh Sargsyan and donate the chair of the president of Armenia to them. But it did not work, no matter how Smbat Karakhanyan was giving instructions in the corridors of the Kremlin.

And now, when the public was in the street for a few days without being conducted by a leader, those giving precise directions become multiplied day by day.

For instance, ANC recently issued a statement and addressing Serzh Sargsyan’s statement stated that “with the help of the wordplay he is trying to conceal the true intention of the regime, which is to gain time for now and achieve putting out the wave of protest, and afterward, not to cancel the price hike even in the case of the audit report proving the price hike unsubstantiated. Therefore, with his proposed “solutions”, Serzh Sargsyan is trying to mislead the public, to conceal the available corruptions in the ENA and the participation and sponsorship of the top leadership of the country in them. Hence, the Armenian National Congress is again expressing its solidarity to the citizens coming out to a peace protest with a demand to provide a thorough and public-suffice solution to the problem.”

As to why the ANC is expressing just a solidarity rather than a willingness to lead the social movement, really is difficult to understand. Why not to come out, stand in Baghramyan Avenue and lead this public riot? What is the problem? Perhaps the fearfulness that the people will no longer believe in their “victory”? Or, the opposition force is no longer able to fight without Gagik Tsarukyan?

Or perhaps the fear that the authorities will use force? When Ter-Petrosyan leading the political force, and mass demonstrations were held in Liberty Square, he was displaying the utmost caution and vigilance by the platform to avoid creating a situation that would instigate the law enforcers to use violence against the public. The then responsibility was on them. But today, when they are not the carriers of the responsibility in the “platform”, it seems that many of them are not against “blowing up the fire” with the urges of the demand “Serzhik, leave” and by giving “political lessons” to the protesters.

But, as you can see, Serzh Sargsyan after the use of disproportionate force against the protesters on June 23 realized that being equal to Robert Kocharyan would be a great gift to the very “political” interested sides, both inside and outside the country. Consequently, the choice of the option to let everything take its course worked out.

Seeing those who are “politically” shaped, but once failing their fight, and the supporters thereof in Baghramyan Avenue, in its turn, perhaps, drove out a segment of the society.

Today, however, many people benefit presenting the incident in Baghramyan Avenue as the next “project” of the government. And as to why the erstwhile opposition members are desperately seeking to have a role in the “government project” and show guidance remains unknown.
