NA ANC faction MP Lyudmila Sargsyan does not consider the call by “No to Plunder” initiative member, Vaghinak Shushanyan, to put down the mandates realistic. “This is not new, people apply to us with much demand in many cases, but they forget how the National Assembly is formed. If we put down the mandates, then others will take them, and they are not better than we are. Thus, by putting down our mandates, we do not give a solution to the problem. I assure you that others cannot do more and ensure a better quality than we do, consequently, this is not a realistic offer,” said the MP.
Note that the member of “No to plunder” initiative, Vaghinak Shushanyan, today, called on the MPs to lay down their mandates and leave the field to those who make illegal, anti-social and anti-human decisions. “Therewith, you will create a political crisis, first of all, not legitimizing these decisions and those who make them … “. Mrs. Sargsyan believes that the fight against the electricity price hike to some extent faded, because after registering some results, the movement did not work on a new agenda. “This could not be continued. However, I think that the youth used their maximum potential. I do not think that this movement has come to its end, I think that these young people are able to unite and develop a new agenda; the process of the electricity price hike is not over yet. I hope that they will follow this process and at the appropriate time, they will present their complaints and demands one more time.”
Referring to the youth starting a hunger strike in Liberty Square, we asked Mrs. Sargsyan about what this drastic method of the fight will change. “Hunger strike is not an effective method of fighting. There were numerous similar attempts, if you may recall, Raffi Hovannisian had also gone on hunger strike several times and did not reach any result. David Sanasaryan connects his hunger strike with the citizens’ passivity … I think that the two-day hunger strike will show him that you cannot activate the citizen with a hunger strike, the citizen is active only when it sees a clear agenda and the mechanisms for solution of this agenda.”
