Member of the Union of Armenian Writers (UAW), novelist, translator and playwright Van Aryan, in the interview with Aravot.am, referring to the protest in Baghramyan Avenue against the electricity price hike, said, “Constantly and everybody must fight, not only the youth.” To our question, according to the member of UAW, whether this protest does not interrupt the writers working inside the building of the Union, Mr. Aryan replied, “What work are you talking about …? Let leave the Union of Writers aside, what kind of work is conducted in the Republic that the protest could prevent it. Nothing but looting is going on in Armenia. Objective requirements are voiced in the protest. The experts have calculated that if the ENA reduced the expenditures by 50%, it would be possible to reduce the electricity tariff by 15%, while there are problems of superprofit here. I do not know whether this is the Russian side or another side, but people simply do not want to lose the superprofit, or what is the meaning of 60 000 Euros wages, it is a vulgarity,” said the writer angrily.
