Iran and the six international superpowers: the United States, Russia, China, Great Britain, France and Germany reached an agreement over Iran’s controversial nuclear program. The Rule of Law faction MP Hovhannes Manukyan considers this also an opportunity for Armenia. “Iran is our strategic partner and the lifting of the sanctions would contribute to the development of Iran and the region. Armenian-Iranian relations will deepen, especially since Iran is an important country in the region for Armenia. New opportunities are opening up for Armenia-Iran cooperation,” said our interlocutor, adding that it remains for the relevant authorities, particularly the RA government, to be able to at the best use this opportunity for the implementation of long-term and short-term programs.
The matter, in particular, refers to the oil pipeline, the railways, gas pipelines, and transit routes, especially since the North-South highway will be commissioned in the near future. “Iran is a good market for us, especially in the agricultural sector. It is one of the largest countries in the region, and deepening the relations means an opportunity for Armenia,” said our interlocutor. Former MP Sos Gimishyan also agrees with the fact that lifting of sanctions against Iran provides a big opportunity for Armenia. He also associated the issue with the quality of RA government authorities. “The quality of our officials is very poor and limited. They act only driver from their own interests and, as a result, Armenia and the Armenian nation will not benefit, only limited number officials with limited essence will benefit. It would be good if they realize that it will be temporary too. The time for such people expires, hopefully in the whole world.”
