A “Founding Parliament” member Gevorg Safaryan has no information about his status in the criminal case filed with regard to the events happened in Baghramyan Avenue on June 23. “I am neither a witness, nor a suspect, I do not know what I am, I was just released”, – said the activist to Aravot.am. Note that the General Prosecutor’s Office had opened a criminal case for hooliganism, and 237 citizens are involved in the case. As reported by the General Prosecutor’s Office, “On June 22 in the evening of June 23 in the morning of 2015, starting from 19:30 pm to a long time, a group of people, organizing an illegal assembly, a march and then a sit-in strike in Baghramyan Avenue of the city of Yerevan has completely disrupted the traffic of public transport, the constitutional right of many citizens to free mobility, has ruined the peace thereof, thus deliberately breaking the public order.
As said by Gevorg Safaryan, on June 23, he was taken to the police station in the scuffle, but the police did not use violent force. “The force used against me was not so brutal and is not possible to actually prove it to be involved as an aggrieved. Simply when twisting my hands they worked hard on it causing pain.” The activist does not have great expectations about the criminal case filed for the actions against the journalists and ruining their property. “No criminal case filed by the SIS has ever brought to the end, now, a criminal case was instituted for the actions against the journalists, but this case was filed after the pressure by the international community. The regime is definitely afraid of the pressure from the international community, therefore, there were formal fines against the police. However, they have always files a criminal case and then have said there is no corpus delicti and have closed the case.” He is convinced that this time too, the police chief will be limited to imposing fine on the offending police officers.
