Nothing is deleted

Ban the Facebook, ban the Youtube, erase Kasparov from the Soviet sports history, erase Boris Grebenshchikov from the Russian culture (as he has met with Saakashvili), ban any historical event: discussions for Russia or Soviet with unpleasant overtones, such offers are often voiced by the Russian State Duma deputies. Sometimes, some of such offers even underlie the decision-making. The justification is simple – to protect the national values and the morals, the way the Duma deputies understand, the history, religion and so on. These efforts are often ridiculous and are contrary to the usual norms of the human intellect. Federal Council member Konstantin Dobrinin drew an attention on it several times, due to which he will never run for the senator.

I do not have a high opinion about our Parliamentarians, but it must be said that no such ridiculous offers so far are voiced in our Parliament. I say so far because no one can tell how far the “Eurasian integration” will take us. So far, this “nation preserving” and “moral preserving” ideas in Armenia are voiced from the lips of such political figures like Alexander Amaryan and Khachik Stamboltsyan, and I assume that they would not turn into a “legislative initiative” in the nearest future.

Among the complex of all these initiatives, more alarming to me is not the banning of the “immoral social networks” (which is practically impossible), but deleting something from the history. It strongly reminds me of the 20-30s of the Soviet Union, when “wrong people’s” faces were erased from the published photos (or were simply painted in black paint), starting from Trotsky and Bukharin and ending with thousands of other, less well-known people who were recognized wrong and were shot dead.

No need to erase anything and anybody from the history or culture, based on the current political conjuncture. Today, you recognize Grebenshchikov or Makarevich a “traitor of the nation”, tomorrow, you will be proud of them. But there are people who in no way can become a source of pride, especially the political figures, the government officials, their deeds can be criticizes, but trying to erase is the stupidest move that is possible to do. Because nothing in reality can be erased, it remains in the body of a man or the nation as a hidden and suppressed emotion. And it’s something like pus, a permanent source of morbid aggression.

Already mentioned Senator Constantine Dobrinin, in particular, offered to lessen the degree of aggression against the sexual minorities. Well, it did not happen. How is it possible to lessen the aggression against any phenomenon?
