As we have informed, today, at 9:30 a.m., the Military Court of the North Caucasian District of the Russian Federation launched the trial of Valery Permyakov, a desertion military soldier from N 102 Russian Military base, charged by 3 Articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: desertion, stealing firearms and ammunition, and illegally carrying weapons. The territory of the Russian military base was controlled by the local police, as well as the employees of the military base. They took the phone of the accredited journalists who have come to cover the trial, the contents of their bags was also checked.
The trial has not yet started, the Avetisyans’ relatives felt bad in front of the N 102 Russian military base, and a doctor was invited for them to be present at the trial. Instead, Valerie Permyakov was quite indifferent, as if he was not the culprit. He was sitting behind the bars facing back to the audience, without the handcuffs, sometimes taking a nap with his head in his hands and was even reluctant to answer the judge’s questions.
The trial was allowed to shoot just for 15 minutes, after which it was allowed only to record it. Valerie Permyakov’s case consisted of exactly 72 volumes, there was no room on the court table to put the volumes on. The suspect initially refused to testify, therefore, his previous testimony was announced. Once again, it became clear that the option of entering the house of Avetisyans because of being thirsty and wanted to drink was a concoction. According to the preliminary evidence, Valery Permyakov was bored with the military service, wanted to return home, missed his homeland and his family, that’s why he deserted the territory of the military base, has picked up a weapon to intimidate the people in Gyumri, to rob and to get the money and the things he wanted.
He has entered Avetisyan’s house in search of money and valuable in the rooms in order to have the necessary amount, to cross the Turkish border, and go to Russia from there. Permyakov’s testimonies were contradictory, particularly with regard to the time of being in Avetisyan’s home, in one place he indicates that he had stayed there for 15 minutes, in the additional testimony, he has mentioned that he had stayed from 3-4 until 6 a.m. in one place, he stated that on his way to Turkey, he had called a taxi and has ordered food, in another place, he denies it.

The trial lasted 8 hours, 4 witnesses were examined, different expert conclusions and documents were read, including the characteristics of the school principal and deputy principal. Examination revealed that Permyakov was not under mental affect and has been in a normal state of consciousness, he generally is healthy, and the weapon, which he used to kill the Avetisyans was attached to him, earlier he had deserted 8 times.
Note that the defendant did not answer any of the questions of the judge Shelyadeev Alexander Romanovich, which looked like a request. To the question of the judge of whether he would not like to describe his personality, Permyakov’s answered sharply, not. Similarly, to the question of the judge of whether he does not want to say what health state he had, again a sharp negative response was followed.
Note that Permyakov’s lawyer, by the last name Danielyan, was constantly emphasizing that he is defending his interests by the charges of desertion, stealing firearms and ammunition, and illegally carrying weapons. In his defense speech, the lawyer said that it is very difficult to defend Permyakov’s interests as he is accused of several crimes. He said that he trusts the court, and he knows that the latter will make a fair verdict. In his last speech, Valerie Permayov said that he pleaded guilty and is ready to take the punishment. He voiced these words quite calm and coolly.
The military prosecutor Vladimir Aleksandrovich Andrusenko demanded 10-year in prison against him for the three Articles, which he will spend in the corrective labor colony. Paragraph 2 of the Article 338 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation demanded 7 years imprisonment, and again 7 years by paragraph 3 of Article 226 and three years by paragraph 1 of Article 222 in prison. Rita Poghosyan, a relative of Avetisyans family, who mentioned in her interview with the Russian mass media that she cannot understand whether the latter has committed the crime alone, she wants to see Permiakov and understand whether he was able to do all of it, maybe she will change her opinion, during the trial she said that the trial is a show and Permyakov is a sadist who feels himself so secure that he even had the courage to turn back and to examine them. The attorneys of representatives of legal successors of the Avetisyans family noted that by their impression, all the parties seemed to be conducting an agreed trial.
