Vacation

August 14,2015 12:58

One of my neighbors makes doors. The other one is a “motor mechanic”. And since my two neighbors treat me well, they sometimes apologize to me for the noise. But I’m absolutely not worried about the noise, nor the smell of the “produced” fuel, even if they are 24 hours a day. I am happy when people are working, create good and keep their families. I’m worried when people sitting idle at the wall began complaining of the life. I have seen such people not only in Armenia. I remember many years ago meeting such “complainers” at the Indian reservations who explained their behavior as follows: “We do not work because we are waiting for the day when the white people will leave our country.” Well, our people, too, probably are waiting until the local authorities “will open up a factory” and they will go to work there.

The work, especially the one that you are pleased about, it seems to me, is the basis for human happiness. But even the work (like all other things) should not be made a subject of blind veneration. And, particularly, therefore, people have invented the institute of vacations. When someone proudly says, “I do not know what it means to go for vacations and I have never had the need for it,” I think it is not quite a very reasonable approach. Something must be discharged to be charged again, the same for “working” thoughts and concerns. New ideas regarding the work arise especially when you do not think about them at all.

In short, the time for my vacation season has also come and to say that I am not happy for it, it would not be sincere. For me, to go on vacations means first and foremost not to have an access to the Internet. Let us not discuss the advantages and disadvantages of social networks and websites. It is the integral part of our life, and fighting against it would mean to look like “Luddites” who in early 19th century were protesting against labor-economizing technologies to maintain the “manual” method of production.

But it is also necessary to rest from the Internet because it contains as much useful information so much garbage, and it requires a certain brain strain to separate one from the other, most importantly, the time that I am going to spend of other things in the coming two weeks. Thus, I am not going to open my Facebook page, as well as our website and will not have a feedback from the readers, which, of course, is part of my job. Naturally, at the beginning of September, I will read all the comments.

I have urged the moderators of Aravot.am to published all the qualifications addressed to me if they do not contain a sexual abuse. For example, “fool”, “ignorant”, “impudent”, “what you write are ravings, marasmus,” and so on. Let us be forgiving to the readers: they are all our brothers and sisters.
