The second front?

September 11,2015 12:25

The words like “savior,” “rescue” are appropriate to the spiritual life, in this aspect, all of us, in my opinion, should strive for the salvation of the soul. Once these terms are transferred to the political arena, a ridiculous situation is created. A man (or group of people) comes and says, “I have come for your salvation,” or “we are so good that we create a Salvation Committee”. Such pretension, it seems to me, are absurd.

The logic of assuming the role of a savior is as follows. To possess people’s mind and to set up control over of them, first of all, it is necessary to give an extreme assessment of their situation, “you are dragged down,” and then to convince “the only way out is to rely on me.” It should be mentioned that this approach is consistent with some of the expectations of the public, “I wish there were someone who would take us out of this situation.” This passive segment of the public is truly waiting for the saviors.

Such people live with a constant combination of expectations and disappointments. The first “major savior” was Vazgen Manukyan and the last one was Raffi Hovannisian. The government did not allow anyone to implement a “salvation mission”. In-between, saviors of smaller caliber pop up who set up “national salvation committees”, even forming “salvation governments”.

Such mode of action is sometimes the result of honest delusion. It seems that the more “crunchy” is the name of the union and the more solid and scourging is the wording of the declarations, further the process will go ahead. The “salvation committees” also have another, we can say, an Armenian drawback. Since there is only one savior, the issue of the leadership should arise in such unions, one is a savior and the rest are his apostles. “Oh, don’t you want to be my apostle, then you are sent by Baghramyan 26?” “Who are you? Everyone knows what client you are.” Thus, the creation of a joint “salvation team” is postponed. The name pretentious hampers the true results. The nation does not need salvation, it is more preferable to confess sincerely that a regular political fight is going on.

…… The “public salvation” front, whose main acting persons are Hmayak Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan and Zhirair Sefilyan, and the “No” front, in which perhaps the leading role will be played by the ANC, are they the same front or different fronts?
