September 14,2015 21:00

“Aravot” hosted a ballet dancer Armina Khachatryan. The young artist informed that she has taken her first dance lessons at the age 6 in Israel at the Russian ballet master Tamara Kin, later she studied modern and jazz dance styles and then has danced at various local groups. After serving in the Israeli army for two years, in 2012, she continued her studies at the Yerevan State College of Choreography at renowned choreographer Anna Marikyan and Armen Grigoryan. In 2013, she was the winner of the project “So You Think You Can Dance” by “Shant” TV, and as a grand prize, she is leaving for the US for a tour. As said by our interlocutor, it seems everything was going smoothly, but in 2014, Armin hurt her leg, causing her to receive a treatment both in Armenia and in Israel. In the meantime, she is not depressed. As a volunteer, she is involved in the “Birthright Armenia” international organization and transfers the dancing knowledge to the students of “Orran” and “Zatik” charities and M danse studio.

In one of the forums organized by “Birthright Armenia” (in early 2015), I got acquainted with Jemma Safaryan (Project Manager of Ayo project, FAR), Helena Melkonyan (Community Director) and of course, Armen Anmeghikyan (Project Director). I asked them to make my dream come true, which is to organize charity concerts with my artist friends. On September 29, the newly opened “Yerevan” cultural center will host a charity concert and the profit will go to “Ayo” project, and I am sure that they will make this assistance reach the schoolchildren of marzes in Armenia,” said Armina. She added that, in fact, after the injury, this will be her first time back to the stage that day. Armina Khachatryan said that she is enrolled in the Children’s Philharmonic Ballet Studio of the Yerevan City Hall named after Yuri Bakhshyan, and thanks to the personal connections of the Art Director Hayk Avagyan, on October, she will leave for Paris together with the Armenian and Russian ballet artists to take part in the rehearsals of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” performance.

“In this respect, I am very happy and excited. Also, it is a great responsibility to take part in a performance, which is considered to be the best of the New Year theatric performances in the world. At this point, I can only say that on Christmas Eve and some time later, “Nutcracker” will be performed in French, German and perhaps other European cities too,” said the dancer.

To our curiosity as to who is the choreographer of the performance, Armina only said that the premiere of this ballet took place in 1892, at Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, the staging will be in the form of classical ballet and it is possible that the choreographer will remain devoted to the once renowned choreographer Vainonen’s staging. Back to the artist’s volunteer work and charity, we asked whether she does not intend to rise on the stage of the Yerevan opera theater. Armina Khachatryan’s response was as follows: “Of course, yes. The opera theater stage of my homeland is very dear to me, but my ultimate goal is, of course, to establish an art school in the future for the children of poor families.”
