Germany-based Turkish singer Leman Stehn will give a concert at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall, on September 24, performing the songs of Komitas and generally, a number of Armenian songs entitled “Come on! My son, let’s go to our homeland”. “Aravot” learned this from the artistic director of Ancient Music “Tagharan” Ensemble, also conductor Sedrak Yerkanyan.
Maestro told that ahead to the concert he learned from one of his colleagues that there is such a Turkish singer who sings in Armenian and is planning to visit Yerevan in the near future. “I was told whether it is possible to combine the performance. It was interesting that being an ethnic Turk, she not only sings Armenian folk songs but also makes her contribution to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Visiting Youtube website and listening to some of her performances, I realized that she is quite education singer, I also watched the concerts, where she was speaking in German about the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. These two factors, of course, attracted me and I got in touch with her, and Leman Stehn agreed to visit a week earlier, and here is, she will be singing at our concert.”
