The first squadron intelligence founding Commander Vladimir Vardanov believes that specific actions are necessary in response to Azerbaijan’s actions. “When they are shooting the civilians, then special measures should be used. A system should be elaborated, which should always be in use. Rather than if the Turks open a fire, then we will give an adequate response. We cannot be adequate, this is the stupidest approach and word that can be used. How can one be adequate with a bear or a wolf?… What is it to be adequate if you are facing a Turk, moreover, well-armed?” Referring to the recent border events, he said that the situation has not been changed much, we were always in a war. “In the 1990s, similar cases were recorded again, simply we were used to it, we had invent a false thesis: neither war, nor peace, actually we were in a war, actually the guys were killed in the positions. Nothing specific is changed.”
The Commander does not consider the punitive operations by the Armenian side a victory. “We rejoice killing 10 Turkish soldiers out of 9 million people, make a simple calculation of what percentage our victims make compared to our 3 million population to their victims, even if they always give more victims, it works to the determent to us.” Vova Vardanov suggests a special action plan against Azerbaijanis – to finance the intelligence in the first place. “A special center should be established that when a system approached the position, we would already be aware of and destroy. All of this is possible in the case of being well-informed and cooperation of the detachments.” He claims that Azerbaijan will not unleash a full-scale operation, though it is ready for war. “Even in the presence of these weapons, which our ally (in quotation marks) has sold to Azerbaijan, are not enough to overcome our defensive zones. They are very ignorant to use techniques. It’s true, they have owned but it is not enough to win us. And not being sure that they will win, they will never start a war.”
