About “loving” the officials

October 02,2015 11:34

The absence of complainers and whiners in any country (or in any region of the country) is not an evidence of this country’s favorable conditions. Otherwise, the most favorable country can be considered North Korea as no one complains of Kim Jong-un, on the contrary, they love him very much, if he dies, they will weep bitter tears. But it is impossible to make conclusions here that this leader “takes a good care” of his people, and everybody is happy with him. In this regard, the ratings say nothing to me, too. Stalin’s or Hitler’s ratings were much higher among those who were in the concentration camps. The Italians also were very fond of Benito Mussolini, but the circumstances turned so that, in the end, he (along with his girlfriend Clara Petacci) was executed by shooting and then hanged feet up at the petrol station in Milan, and a few days later, they threw them into trash (not of the history, but in the very literally sense).

In such cases, people say: when you love, you fear, or when you fear, you love. The favorite leader gets 99 percent of the vote in the elections or has 80 percent rating. All this raises doubts in me. Likewise, I doubt on Solovyov’s few hours-lasting talk-show, which was dedicated to Putin’s speech at the UN, which reveals Russian leader’s all the nuances of gentility.

Chinese philosopher Laozi (5th century B.C.) says that the best government is one of which people know nothing more than its mere existence. The next best is the one loved and praised by people. The next is one that they fear. And the last is one, which people despised. By the classification of Laozi, the “intermediate versions” of love and fear, in my opinion, are close to each other. Simply the word “love” is not appropriate here. In the democratic countries, the government officials are not loved but elected to perform their duties temporarily. If they perform them poorly, they are not elected next time. Here is the whole “love affair”.

I remembered all this for the fact that after any negative word about a mayor or a governor, we receive numerous comments (presumably, from the governor’s office or City Hall staff) who claim that “the people” love this person.”

In this sense, they mostly “love” Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan. Of course, they do. What else do you think? Let them dare not to love, he will injure them.
