The RA Defense Minister’s adviser Armen Sargsyan has presented some clarifications on the rumors regarding occupying the “posts” of the opponent in the direction of Agdam by the Armenian side. He particularly conveyed, “Yes, during the recent tensions, the “posts” and the positions from where the enemy is trying to show, the so-called, its teeth more frequently, these teeth are broken. In other words, these positions are fundamentally destroyed. We have three or four sections where after giving a complete counterattack at the enemy, the trenches are completely destroyed resulting the enemy to flee. Be sure that there are positions that have been destroyed to give a worthy counterattack at the enemy.”
Aravot.am asked the coordinator of Razm.info specialized website, Karen Vardanesyan, how the Azerbaijani media present this fact and whether constantly voicing such events is a must or not. Mr. Vrtanesyan replied that there is a big difference between occupying the “post” and destroying them and stressed that this case is about destroying rather not occupying. We got interested in who the Azerbaijani side presents this fact. Karen Vrtanesyan replied, “They hide everything. For example, they had admitted only 4 combat losses during the recent September tension, but actually they had much more losses. For example, by the Ministry of Defense presented data, they had more than 20 losses”.
Back to the topic of whether the coverage of topic related to the “posts” and similar matters is appropriate, the expert noted that in general, the less information is given, the better, but on the other hand, there is an issue of balancing, people need to be informed too. The expert is against the “media commotion”. Karen Vrtanesyan noted that no unfavorable border news for Azerbaijan is reported from the Azerbaijani newsfeed. Regarding the disinformation, he said, “They still fail disseminating disinformation. For example, they had disseminated a video, in their words, allegedly Armenian soldiers were killed, while the Armenian army has not suffered a loss in those days. They had simply taken photos of a shelling and presented it as a loss.”
