On the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia, beloved singer and Honored Artist awarded Erna Yuzbashyan, who lives in the city of Glendale, USA, believes that the titles are outdated. “Now, these titles are not relevant, honored, people’s, these titles, it seems to me, are conventional. My life will not be changed after receiving the honored title. Who cares for Honored Artist Erna Yuzbashyan in Glendale, it is ridiculous,” says the singer. According to her, being awarded the title of an Honored Artist is just a nice moment. “Tatevik Hovhannisyan, who was recently here, does not have a title, my friend, my dear Elvina Makaryan, who passed away but did not have a title, and there are many other who are living without the title and are loved by people.
The initiator of this project and title was Emil Karat. He was my student in 1989 and until today we are communicating. He lives in Moscow, he was always, like people used to say, pushing on me, saying, Erna Nikolayevna, but why, why you should not have a title. I was saying, hey, kid, leave me alone, I am having a quiet life, I do not care for this title in the city of Glendale, in the USA. If you are unaware, I will say that two People’s Artists should mandatorily sign which will go to the Ministry of Culture, Emil arranges all this behind my back, and said in June that I should come. I said I cannot come, but it turned so that I arrived in Armenia, and everything took place, including the concerts.”
