Exclusive materials about Komitas in a unique picture book (series of photos)

At the Komitas Museum-Institute, Ghazar Mirzoyan’s and Anahit Mkhitaryan’s authored the “Komitas” picture book was presented to the judgment of the readers. The classic and contemporary artists’ works presented at the exhibition dedicated to Komitas are mirrored in the first section of the book. In the second section, the reader will find the biography of Komitas, from September 26, 1869 up to 1914. In the interview with Aravot.am, Chairman of the World Union of Armenian Artists, also the editor of the picture book, Ghazar Mirzoyan said that the book is unique with the printing tricks that were not in use earlier. “The cover of the book is remarkable by the effects and page separation is also done in interestingly. In other words, the book has become a fun and interesting both for the reader and the researcher.”

The artist noted that the picture book summarizes exclusive materials about Komitas that were not published until then, including photographs and paintings. “Only 10 pages are devoted to the literature about Komitas. There are also scientific works, essays, memoirs, and fictions,” added Mirzoyan. For the preparation of the picture-book, the Yerevan Municipality provided some materials related to Komitas kept in various archives and museums. “Not many materials about Komitas are kept in Armenia, but this book is especially rich in chronology and album of paintings. There are also materials from of the Holy See patriarchate residence and Mkhitaryan Unity,” said the Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan in the conversation with us. To add also that during the presentation of the picture book, a song written based on one of the Armenian poet’s was performed for the first time.
