Recently, several media outlets, including our website, published a material about former Deputy Defense Minister Vahan Shirkhanayan’s memoir regarding Victor Hambardzumyan, which he told in the interview with the journalists in his recent press conference. The point was that the world famous scientist was a very modest person and was ready to endure the “dark and cold” like all of us in the years of the Karabakh war. This material partly received a negative reaction, not because people did not appreciate the merits of the great astrophysicist, but … because the story was presented by Vahan Shirkhanyan. Some people even surmised that some “dark forces” of the Kremlin instruct the Armenian media to interview Shirkhanyan. Thus, good and, in some place, an instructive story about the scientist became a “bad story”.
I do not share Shirkhanyan’s political views, I do not think that all Russia’s moves should be justified, even when they obviously are contrary to the interests of our country. Exactly likewise, I do not share the views that the United States is true in all matters (e.g., Syria). But all this has nothing to do with the presented story, which should be regarded with purely human standards rather than the political-ideological pattern.
As a citizen I will vote against the draft of the constitutional amendments, it seems to me that no drastic amendments will benefit us now. But I treat equally warm to those who say “yes” and “no” because it cannot be a standard of human approaches on any matter. Nor, moreover, an opportunity for blackmailing, if you are thinking so, then you … and is followed by a patterned generalization.
Indeed, it is much easier to live with generalizations: the blacks, Turks, putinists, homosexuals, four-eyes, Kocharyan-supporters, etc. No longer you try to be clever to understand and evaluate individual persons. But in the event of such approaches, life becomes too meager. The inner world of those who think likewise also becomes meager.
