The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, still anticipates the RA authorities to launch an investigation over the violence against the reporters during the protest against the electricity price hike. In the comment to Aravot.am, Mr. Jagland said that they expect the RA authorities to conduct an impartial investigation.
“When such things happened, we followed them carefully. We were very concerned and alarmed the Government of Armenia. They listened to our concern. So, what has happened is now being investigated.”
In reply to the question the authorities have listened to the Council of Europe’s concerns and whether it is not worrying that several months have passed, but the investigation outcomes are yet not visible, Mr. Jagland replied, “I am informed that the investigation is being done and we seriously follow the process.”
