Ara Abrahamyan “opens up a party”

October 15,2015 15:18

This move fully complies with the psychology of the majority of our population and the elite

“Earlier, there was at least Moscow, we were writing letters, we were going there to reach justice, now, we have fallen into the hands of this thug, there is no justice, nor conscience.” A familiar opinion, is not it? Dozens of Armenians generation were brought up by this belief that the local officials that are appointed from outside are greedy and cheaters, but those who have appointed these local officials, they are powerful and righteous people, and in the least, you can arrange your affair in “Ctesiphon”. This psychology has various manifestations. First, some vague hope has still remained in Armenia’s population that an Armenian wealthy whose “eye is fed up” will come from outside and “correct this country.”

This is the reflection of the deep disappointment that all the Armenians are experiencing from the entire local elite. Our politicians sometimes try to respond to these faint hopes. Do you recall the attempts of bringing Armen Sargsyan from London and “ordaining him into a king”? Eventually, the pro-government and opposition politicians having ambitions are trying to arrange their affairs “thru Moscow.” Moreover, after returning to Yerevan, the opposition members are working to convince everyone that they were accepted “almost at the level of Putin,” and Moscow has “given the go-ahead” for the change of power. The continuation of the logical of the same psychology is that the money-disposing citizens of other countries begin displaying political ambitions in Armenia. This becomes possible under the circumstances, when there are more or less citizens in our country who will say, “Dear compatriot, you have an irresistible desire to be engaged in politics, you put yourself in the place of philosopher Socrates, demonstrate your abilities in the country, whose citizen you are.”

On the contrary, the majority of the population believes that now this rich man will come, will distribute his money to the people, and the people will begin to live well. The Ambitions of Armenian businessmen living abroad have a long history and dates back to Serzh Jilavyan. Having money and doing charity (of course, glory and honor them for it) generates trust among these rich that “doing so many things for this nation”, they can also determine the politics of the Republic of Armenia. They are right to the point that intellectually, they are not any less of our businessmen sitting at the National Assembly. But the most ignorant deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia is connected to the Armenian reality by numerous ties while the things sent by the foreigner will fully express the interests of another country.

Now, the Moscow-based Ara Abrahamyan has “opened up a party” like they open shops, hotels and casinos. It is not clear so far whether he was instructed by the Kremlin to “open up a party”, or this businessman has his business-interests in Armenia. It is also not known to what extent this “enterprise” is agreed with the authorities of Armenia. Soon it will be clear how this part will be called: a Rule of Law, “Armenian Renaissance”, or another way. One thing we can say for sure that this party will not get the majority in the 2017 elections and at best, will become a member of coalition, or a “non-government force”, the difference is not great. In all cases, this political party will not add a new share to our new color palette.
