Zulum and Mushegh Grigoryans workshop-showroom hosted “Bridge” charity exhibition-sale, displaying the works of father and son artists. The entire profit from the sale of the paintings will go to the Armenian General Benevolent Union of Syrian-Armenian Outreach programs. In an interview with Aravot.am, Mushegh Grigoryan said that 56 pieces of works are presented, mostly paintings of recent years. “Landscape, color painting, abstract works and compositions. Mainly these of my works are displayed. The source of my inspiration is the life and the miracles that occur with a man every day. There are paintings, which are very dear to me, but I will not single them out. What you see is the result of the world outlook.”
Speaking of the “culture” to appraise the artists thru titles and awards, Mushegh Grigoryan said, “Titles are admitted in any sphere, but perhaps their abundance have prevented … if the number of it were less, everything might be more interesting. I do not have a title, but it does not bother me. Painting is such a fantastic and wonderful thing while having a title or not is secondary. In any case, if a person gets a title, maybe there is something pleasant with it.” The painter also said that he is planning to have more exhibitions in the future.
Incidentally, in 2003, in Barcelona, Mushegh Grigoryan was included in the “Guidance to the Millennium Arts” catalog, which was preceded by participation in an exhibition in a Spanish city. We asked the RA People’s artist Zulum Grigoryan whether our today’s artists are appreciated. “No attention is paid on them. They are awarded so many extra medals and titles… Are not they ashamed? … Whom do they give it? The title must be earned and worked on, to paint twenty of such pictures, it implies both to an artist and to a singer.” The 82-year-old artist said that his title has not changed anything. “I have painted 30 compositions, and now, they cannot even paint a man, but get a title.” In addition, the “Bridge” charity exhibition-sale will be open until Monday.
