“Political party statues” do not exist

October 30,2015 11:38

Recently, I was communicating with an artist. I sympathize with this man in terms of creativity and human. But when he began speaking of his own works with an admiring tone, I felt some doubts on this artist’s mental abilities. I seems to me that no intelligent person would say about himself, “I am a prominent person,” “I am a national figure,” “my work is a masterpiece.” I perceive treating your own person without humor a lack of intelligence. Such artists remind me of the politicians who talk about themselves in the third person, approximately in the following wording, “Gvidon Metsaryan (instead of saying “I” – A. A) is one of the national figures, whom the people know well and should be grateful for his (he is not saying “my” – A. A) numerous patriotic services.” When people visualize themselves as a living statue, of whom we should speak almost in an obituary manner, they do not think that this approach is seen rather ridiculous from the side.

The political parties, in my opinion, are not statues too. Yesterday, my friend Aghvan Vardanyan, as I understood, expressed an opinion that someone should treat his party, the Dashnaktsutyun party, as an obedient bride of the 19th-century patriarchal family with her horrible mother-in-law (wash her feet and drink the water). With all due respect, I think that there is, has not and will never be a political party in the world, a party, a government, a president or a king, whose feet-washed water is worth drinking. Well, certainly, it does not mean that the Dashnaks have not done anything good, and in particular, we should not be grateful to the creators of the First Republic. Moreover, the next “rulers”, the communists, and then the PANM members, obviously have tries (are trying) to degrade the deeds of the Dashnak government in 1918-1920. But to idealize and make this government an inviolable statue or a sacred cow, it seems to me, is also wrong.

The saddest thing is that Communists and PANM members are thinking exactly the same about their governments, even if they do not allow such extremist statements. Again, we need to be grateful to them for what they have done, but if we ask the elite of these political parties, then each of their committed move is such a political “masterpiece” that except for applauding, they do not worth anything else. The current authorities are of the same opinion about themselves. The same will be tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. And the “ones of yesterday” would always say, “hey, if it were us, we would make the country prosper.”
