“The preliminary outcomes of the parliamentary elections ended on November 1 prove that the “Justice and Development” party will have another chance to form a government alone. I think that the victory of AKP in the elections on November 1 is the victory of, first of all, the country president Erdoğan and then his political support “Justice and Development” political party,” said Turkologist Hayk Darbinyan, in the interview with Aravot.am. According to the Turkologist, though by preliminary outcomes of the parliamentary elections, AKP failed to receive 330 seats in the Turkish parliament to pass the draft of constitutional amendments of Turkey in the parliament, “however, the election outcomes clearly indicate that Erdoğan managed to completely centralize the power of the country in his hands.”
Referring to the 20% decline of pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party in the elections, which was registered in these elections, Hayk Darbinyan expressed an opinion that it “naturally will become a reason of resentment among the Kurds, however, he thinks that the internal political situation will become more manageable. Many analysts opine that after the June 7 elections, the disturbances resumed in the country were set on by the authorities, or at least, did not use many efforts to ensure the domestic political tranquility, thus showing how the activeness of the Kurds may be “dangerous” in the domestic political life of the country.”
He also added that time will tell the truthfulness or wrong of this hypothesis. “However, we are obligated to realize that regional developments (the Syrian crisis, “the Islamic state”) have a serious impact on Turkey’s domestic political life, and in their presence, certain tension will always be felt in Turkey’s domestic political life.”
