The opposition MP does not accuse the Armenian delegation members to PACE
What consequences will the infamous report of the British MP Robert Walter have which was entitled “The rise in violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” and accepted two days ago at the PACE Political Committee, no matter how the representatives of the Armenian diplomatic corps and the lawmakers try to describe in colors the British parliamentarian’s love for the Azerbaijani caviar, especially since the member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, Naira Zohrabyan, considered it very probable that the report will also be accepted at the PACE plenary session in January. The “Heritage” faction MP Tevan Poghosyan said in an interview with “Aravot” that the descriptions of the British delegate’s love for caviar are true, but the problem is that we are confused now, while we knew about this report still a year ago, when it was in the process of being accepted. “There was a fight between the two rapporteurs still then. Azerbaijan was able to do everything for this rapporteur to pass. The other rapporteur, which would be more acceptable for all of us, I am sure that in his case, it would be possible to change the name of the report, failed to collect the necessary number of votes.” Anyway. Tevan Poghosyan states as a fact that this report will always exist and perceived to be one-sided, a biased report. According to him, the content of this report is necessary for Azerbaijan for its future moves. “Every time, they will cite to it because the four UN resolutions do not function any more. The Armenian side has found how to reverse them. Azerbaijan needs to have a new document now. We should realize all of this. This document, on the one hand, will not solve any issue, but will negatively affect the negotiation process. The Russian side does not participate in this session, but the French side attended, and the Armenian side has a question to at least one co-chair country of the Minsk Group: where were your delegates that completely reverse and incomprehensible texts to the negotiation process were accepted.
This document will be lost awhile after. Naturally, we should try bringing new documents and so on, but the problem here is where our systemized work is.” Our interlocutor believes that the Foreign Ministry, the National Assembly, Diaspora organizations and all our partners in the international structure should work in a systemized way. The priority task of the moment, he believes, are the moves to be done to make possibly more people attending the PACE session in January, who would say that it is not nice to accept one-sided reports. Also, we need to think about future steps because similar situations are also not excluded in the future. “Let us not forget that we had similar situations in the past too, in Lisbon and so on,” said the MP.
To the observation that we persistently do not want to learn lessons of the past, he countered, “People need to understand that being in their position and opportunities, they need to initiate this systemized co-operation task.” He does not agree with the Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, who addressing this issue at the Parliament yesterday announced, they as diplomats will do their job. “I am sorry, this was the task of your deputies. We are ready to be useful to you. Not three, but maybe 25 times it was necessary to go to these people and consult with them. Maybe, it was also necessary to suspend this special session, and the delegates who have acquaintances, are knowledgeable and have experience, should be sent there on a business trip to work with them. And if necessary, to spend even months in the European so that people would go and consciously to not allow the report to be accepted. We too, after all, should begin working in a systemized way like Azerbaijan over several years by developing its personal lobbyists. It does not matter whether it will be money, caviar or a gift, but they are ready to get up and go to defend the interests of Azerbaijan. We do not have it and we need to understand what value we should work on to be able to oppose Azerbaijan always and more. We leave everything on the five members of the delegation and then begin accusing them. Yes, institutionally, they are on the first line, but imagine that the best soldier is standing in the frontline, but he does not have the rear.”

In addition, our interlocutor believes that the Minsk Group co-chairs should also understand that such reports will only harm their future activities. “And what will happen if the December meeting of the presidents did not take place because of this report. Do they realize that one of their deputies has found a caviar, financial or I do not know what manner and was able to do something that is in contrast with the entire work of the co-chairs? This should be delivered to its appropriate destination so that the same PACE leadership would understand that they have a problem: not to allow harming the Nagorno-Karabakh peace settlement process, or else they will not contribute to the strengthening of peace.”
