Terrorism is an ideology

November 16,2015 15:00

“Destroy all the terrorists,” “choke the Islamic terrorism in its cradle – in the Middle East,” this is the normal human reaction to the bloody events that took place last night in Paris. Certainly, it would be wonderful if it were possible by using the entire weapons of the whole civilized world to put an end to this evil. I am sure that after the terrorism in Paris huge attacks will be mounted against the military positions of the “Islamic state” in Syria and Iraq. It is also possible that Russia and the West would reconcile on this matter.

But the matter of “destroying” and “choking” the terrorism is not solved thus. Because terrorism is not a military base, it is an ideology that exists in the hearts of millions of people. Who is the stronger: the man who is sincerely devoted to his God and is ready to die for his faith without hesitation, or the man who perhaps believed in God but it is not a priority for him. The priority is that he will be able to create goods in this earthly life, develop and achieve happiness. While the second man is also ready to fight in case of a war and die for the sake of the homeland. But the Homeland is a more relative category than God. Both ordinary people and the heroes fighting in the war are often offended of the homeland. Homeland often “offended” the common people and the heroes who fought in the war, as evidenced by the history of Armenians and other peoples.

If we want the non-cannibal species of the humanity win, there are two ways: either the fanatics, potential terrorists become non-fanatic by continuing to practice Islam, the main manifestations of which are normal, not-“cannibal”. Or we, the rest of the world, should oppose an idea to terrorism, which is stronger than the terrorism. The idea wins an idea.
