“If someone has a disagreement with the actions of the national security, then he must make it clear why, otherwise, it is very strange to me that some political forces saying that they have nothing to do with this group, or insure themselves in advance, even express fear that they can be associated with them, which I cannot understand why they all of a sudden begin saying that NSS has done this-and-that thing wrong, this is a show and so on. On what grounds do they have to say it? If they cannot argue, then their behavior was at least strange”, such opinion was expressed by leader of the “National Security” Party, Garnik Isagulyan, in an interview with Aravot.am, referring to the statements on disclosure of the criminal group by the National Security Service on November 25 that they have nothing to do with this group, and naming them devotees of the nation.
Isagulyan said, “There can be two arguments: either, indeed, there are some connections and they are concerned a lot that eventually this problem will be unveiled, or simply a priori they want to instil mistrust towards the NSS, which cannot be a nation-devoted and homeland-loving image. In both cases, the posture of the politicians and the political parties is unclear.”
To the observation of Aravot.am as to why this phenomenon matured, some circles of the youth group characterized it positive, and ultimately, as it often sounds, why it was disclosed a few days ahead to the referendum and the December 1 meeting, Isagulyan said, “Based on the presumption of innocence, there is no need to blame anyone and what is said by the NSS Department of Investigation, I do not think that they do not have adequate information or preliminary information that such a thing was being prepared or would be carried out for 100 percent. If someone doubts or he has more information than the NSS, then let him make it public. The NSS actions fit into the framework of the law.”
The NSS has reported that the actions planned by the group are unprecedented by their cynicism, and heinous actions were planned against the officials, state bodies and separate branches of government. What drives these people to plan such things, in response to our question Isagulyan said, “No one keep it secret that there are economic, social, political and other problems in Armenia. I absolutely do not want to draw parallels with any other type of problems, but unfortunately, in reality, young people are always involved in the criminal groups, unacceptable for the Armenian reality: young girls, because they are very quickly attracted by various ideological streams, it is very easy to work with them, plus a bit of romanticism. All of this is available. I do not want to associate, but I must say that the majority of the Islamic State assailants are young people up to 25 years old, there are girls, these young people are going to suicide, this is the age for them that seems to be a kind of romantic. But more importantly who have involved them in it. It is not excluded that there are patriotic people among them, tomorrow they can be people bringing benefit to our country. It is not excluded that many of them would be released in the future, or appear in new characters and have grave sin. We should not mix up the political statements and actions with these actions and let the relevant services do their job clearly.”

For Isagulyan, as he said, it is very strange that the political parties are already making statements that are not appropriate at all as the NSS had not used the word terrorism, had not mentioned that this group is associated with any political force, but for some reason, some media outlets reported something like this, “The investigation will identify. This should not be associated with the referendum on December 6, I can say something different, it is not excluded that if not for the disobedience calls from September 1 through September 6, NSS would not know that specific actions could have happened 3 days later.”
