“The Beautified Project” rock band, Turkish-Armenia singer Sibil and Turkish singer of fold band: Göksel Baktagir, Burak Malchok, Osman Yurdal Tokcan and Mert Elmas were on the same stage on December 14. At the Yerevan Musical Comedy Theater named after Paronyan, the Armenian and Turkish musicians performed concerts in the framework of “Melody for Harmony”. The English and Armenian songs with new instrumental editing were presented to the Armenian audience. Under the “Melody for Harmony”, the “Don’t blame me” song was created, which was performed during the concert. And one week later, it will be performed in Istanbul too. The author of this song is the founder of “The Beautified Project” Andre Simonyan.
In the near future, the video of the new song will be shot in Armenia and Turkey. In a briefing with the journalists prior to the concert, Andre Simonyan said that this new song has no political overtones. “This is a conversation between Armenian and Turkish citizens, he said. “We would never imagine that everything would be so much better, – said the Turkish-Armenian singer Sibil, – two different music, the East and the West, joined. A beautiful thing turned out. I think that it is a similarly interesting initiative to transform all of this into a documentary film. A film that will tell about our acquaintance, partnership and concerts.” A well-known Turkish musician playing with his unique style on the canon with his left hand, Göksel Baktagir, is in Armenia for the first time. He is impressed, “I have managed to be in Matenadaran and got familiar with different samples of culture. It is very nice to see how Armenia takes a good care of its beautiful culture. Unfortunately, we did not have time to be in the Genocide Memorial as our schedule was very tight because of the concerts. But I would like to note that we are here to spread out seeds of peace and reconciliation by the uniting power of music,” said Göksel Baktagir.
Note that the initiative was supported by the US Embassy to Armenia. “Such initiatives are of great importance especially for the nations who communicated with each other but not in sufficient level, – said the US Ambassador Richard Mills, – the US Embassy are very happy to be able to support this initiative, which unites musicians from different nations, and which forms a harmony for melodies. The music unites people and nations, it eliminates the barriers and opens borders.” Note that the same concert will take place on 22 December in Istanbul.
