Alexander Arzumanyan. Good for the US Ambassador

December 17,2015 19:00

“It is the speech of a deeply concerned friend,” said the former RA foreign minister, Heritage” faction MP Alexander Arzumanyan, today, in an interview with the journalists, referring to the question of the US Ambassador to Armenia about estimating the referendum.

Note that the Embassy statement, in particular, reads as follows, “In accordance with the U.S. commitment to fighting corruption worldwide, the U.S. Embassy can also draw upon the information contained in such reports to help assess whether any individuals who directly interfered in the integrity of the December 6 electoral process can participate in Embassy programs or activities.”

Alexander Arzumanyan considers the lack of legitimacy regarding the results of the referendum obvious and thinks that the Americans, as a friend, prompt our authorities that they have a work to do with the people. “You should do these changes so that to slightly ease this atmosphere of mistrust. If you do, that’s ok, of not…”

To the question of whether this is not an interference in our internal affairs, and why the US ambassador interferes, Alexander Arzumanyan replied, “Good for him. The US Ambassador is accredited to this country to talk about everything: both the problems and the achievements. Is there a monopoly for any country’s ambassador who can talk nonsense while the other cannot? Is this the statement of a friend, or the statements of other observers saying that there is no such fair thing in the world? A friend cannot say something like that.”

To the question of Aravot.am of why our American friends were not so deeply concerned about the 1 March 2008 when 10 people were killed, Alexander Arzumanyan reversed, “They are concerned and deeply concerned and it is also thanks to their support and work that the political prisoners were released.”
