Deputy Chairman of the Heritage party, Armen Martirosyan, does not hurry to comment on the significance of the toast during the Serzh Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting, by considering it a contradictory information. Note that Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated that the OSCE Minsk American co-chair James Warlick’s statement is something imaginary. “You propose a toast when you obtain a result to toast for it, whether there was such a move or not, I cannot say. There was a contradiction in the statements of Warlick and Nalbandian,” said Armen Martirosyan.
Referring to the statement issued by the co-chairs about the establishment of mechanisms for investigating the incidents, Mr. Martirosyan said, if it is implemented, the meeting can be considered a positive result. “I cannot say whether it will be implemented or not, we are talking about the desire, it seems there is a consensus that it will be implemented, but during what period, it is the major question.” To our question that yesterday night the border situation continued to remain tense, so whether this is an evidence that Azerbaijan remains to its old posture, and the wishes expressed by the presidents during the meeting will be in the air, Mr. Martirosyan said. “Anyway, I do not see any short-term agreement, otherwise, Aliyev would immediately agree because the Armenian side agrees to the implementation of such a mechanism.”
According to him, Azerbaijan will continue its policy, and there is only one answer to this policy. “Such an answer that will immobilize Azerbaijan’s hands, it is possible that this response would cause of resentment towards the RA authorities, but should we have a legitimate government, which in this case would not be afraid of the international reproach rather than saying I am implementing my defense.”
