Poet Hamo Sahyan’s son, Chairman of “Hamo Sahyan Poetry Center” NGO, Nairi Sahyan, though stepped back from the intention of selling his father’s unpublished archive but assures that the decision is not final. This was told to Aravot.am on the phone by Nairi Sahyan. He informed that the Ministry of Culture has promised to solve the problems of his concern because of which he was compelled to sell his father’s archive. “We have an agreement with the Ministry of Culture. The minister has personally asked me not to sell the archive, he has said that they will help me and I agreed. But I cannot be sure, I just still believe people, I believe that they will do what they have told me. But if otherwise, I have to sell it so that I will be able to do some of those things. Hence, this decision cannot be final. It depends on how much they will help me,” said the poet’s son.
As conveyed by Mr. Sahyan, they have decided with the Ministry that Hamo Sahyan memorial in Kasyan Street will be restored until spring and the home-museum will be ready in the village of Lor. “Spring comes again in two months. I will see if by that time nothing happens, then I have no other way out but to sell it. I do not know to what extent it will justify itself but I will do it to finish it. There should be a house-museum,” noted our interlocutor. Note that the poet Hamo Sahyan’s son has recently offered his father’s unpublished archive for sale, which includes numerous letters, papers, manuscripts and unpublished works addressed to the poet by well-known writers.
