Zaruhi Postanjyan.  “Now, there are these two resolutions, then, others will follow”

January 13,2016 14:00

Ahead to the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the RA government authorities are currently making efforts to fail the adoption of the two anti-Armenian reports. Not only the PACE delegation conduct meetings but also arrangements are obtained in the diplomatic arena, a number of RA National Assembly deputies are currently in the European capitals on a business trip to conduct negotiations on these matters.

Note that there are two anti-Armenian reports included in the agenda: “Rise in violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijani” and “Deliberate deprivation of water of the residents of Azerbaijan’s border regions”. Aravot.am asked the former member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, Zaruhi Postanjyan, whether these reports could be effective. She replied, “I cannot say in what format they are working but nevertheless, we must not give up because now there are these two resolutions, later, others will follow. We have to prevent it.”

To our observation that the majority of PACE delegates are members of the EPP and ARP is a EPP member and Serzh Sargsyan has repeatedly attended the EPP summits, hence it is a matter of his solution, Ms. Postanjyan replied, “Certainly, everyone should be involved in this matter, not just the delegation members, not just one or two people but this issue must be right under the spotlight by the head of the foreign diplomacy and under his direct actions and he must directly deal with it.”

To our question that if it is not done, so whether currently ongoing activities and the negotiations can produce results, Ms. Postanjyan replied, “I cannot say whether it will produce results or not but we should not give in.  This is the flaw and the reason of lack of talent that led to this situation. The report does not come one day, it is a result of years of activities. It should be prevented from the onset, which was not done.” To add that Zaruhi Postanjyan was the member of EPP faction Bureau to the PACE but when she was removed from the Armenian delegation to PACE, she automatically was removed from the Bureau.  All the resolutions, including the anti-Armenian ones, are first of all discussed at the Bureau, as well as it is because of having a representative in the Bureau that makes it possible to understand whether there are any anti-Armenian sentiments, what plans the Turkish deputies have and so on. Now, our representative in the EPP is the RPA faction parliamentarian, Naira Karapetyan.
