“I tend to see positive shades in Aliyev’s statement. Henceforth, let the permanent representatives of the US, France and Russia and the Minsk Group co-chairs have a clear idea of what unserious person they are dealing with. The Aliyev’s statement is not only a slap to the representatives of co-chair countries but a lot to the residents of these countries. Because it is clear without saying that without the US President Barack Obama’s, French President Francois Hollande’s and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s immediate agreement, without the instruction, no such meetings at this level have ever been organized.”
Artashes Geghamyan, a member of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, in an interview with Aravot.am, responded to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statement that the meeting held with Serzh Sargsyan in Bern was formal. In his words, with such a statement, Aliyev once again proves what the RA President Serzh Sargsyan has repeatedly stated saying that Azerbaijan is not inclined to settle down the NKR conflict thru negotiations, “On the one hand, we have a Republic of Armenia with a very constructive position in the face of its president, on the other hand, in fact, a Sultan of sultanate who is initially charmed by adventurism and wants to catch a fish in troubled waters by taking the advantage of the complex geopolitical situation, whose contemporaries we are. It should be clear that Aliyev only and merely recognizes the use of just power, which was done during the Artsakh liberation war.”
To our question that if Aliyev constantly shows unseriousness to these meetings, then what’s the point of sitting at one table with him and to attend such meetings, Artashes Geghamyan replied, “Tomorrow, we can use the tribune of any international structure and compare the official posture of Yerevan to the process of negotiations and Baku’s official stance, after which directly appeal to the international community, so in this case, whether it is not the time for Armenia to already recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent and established country. All our efforts to giving solutions at the negotiating table based on the famous 3 principles, regarding which 5 statements were adopted by the presidents of the US, France and Russia are torpedoed by Azerbaijan”.
