“We seem to be in a dynamic changing situation and many steps can be carried out based on the situation. It is obvious that thanks to New Armenia, this referendum obtained another course for the authorities that it was planned by them,” said Deputy Chairman of “Heritage” party Armen Martirosyan in an interview with Aravot.am referring to the further steps of New Armenia public salvation camp. He is referring to the reaction of the international structure.
“I think it became evident to everyone that the authorities do not have any confidence and resource with the public. And what is going on now, essentially, proved the authorities have organized the election frauds. The hundreds of reports on crime, of which a fairly large number were witnessed by the journalists and was disclosed with the help of their information, are concealed by the authorities. Several dozen criminal cases were filed, which in my opinion some time later will be closed with substantiation of lack of grounds.”
Mr. Martirosyan opines that New Armenia’s campaign has produced some positive results, “The positive thing was that the authorities could not rig these elections and eventually, these election frauds deserved the negative assessment by the international community. The US Embassy’s statement is the great proof of it. This was also as a result of New Armenia’s campaign.” Deputy Chairman of “Heritage” does not consider this a victory but just one, of course, estimates, “We have an objective to make radical reforms in the country, a change of regime, which we do not succeed so far. There is no other way in Armenia than to fight.”
Armen Martirosyan gives importance to the estimate issued by the Human Rights Watch international reputable human rights organization in connection with the arrest of the member of New Armenia, Gevorg Safaryan. To the question of whether the authorities will take this estimate into account, he responded, “If there is a more or less public thinking, then they should take it into account.”
