“Sighs and sobs” work for the benefit

January 28,2016 11:12

The PACE has adopted resolutions on Karabakh, for example, the resolution No. 1416 in 2005 (Paragraph 1) reads, “Considerable parts of the territory of Azerbaijan are still occupied by Armenian forces, and separatist forces are still in control of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.” This resolution was adopted on the basis of the report by British MP David Atkinson, which was not much different from Walter’s report by its orientation. It was unpleasant but not fatal.

Let’s talk about the rejection of Walter’s report and the adoption of Marković’s report. Depending on their political preferences, the politicians and analysts estimate the facts with diametrically opposite epithets: “Oh, what a shame! Oops, another diplomatic failure”, “oh, what a brilliant victory! Oops, a slap to Azerbaijan.”  Politics in our country has long ago turned into an attaché of political interests.

The estimates on the level of these “signs and sobs” perhaps bring some propaganda scores to the political forces but they did not help us to record what we have achieved and think in what direction we should work. And specifically in this matter, the “government-opposition” games are not quite appropriate, primarily because our delegation to the PACE is multi-party, and there is no deputy there who does not want to invest his share to the national cause.

As a general wish, we can offer our delegates to be more proactive. They say that the anti-Armenian reports do not mirror the objective situation, that’s true. But have they tried to work on a report with disposed deputies that mirrors the real situation?
