Aravot.am asked the editor-in-chief of the “Orer” Pan-European magazine issued in the Czech Republic, Hakob Asatryan, whether there is a reading crisis in the Czech Republic, something that is common throughout the world. “It does not concern the Czech Republic because the Czechs are reading a lot. Here, perhaps, among all European countries, is the only place where the books are sold the most. There are still few-floor bookstores operating in the Czech Republic, even mega-stores,” said Hakob Asatryan.
He also brought a fact that there is no European language that so often publishes William Saroyan, the Czech have translated so much that perhaps there is no-European language that has published Saroyan so often as Czech. “Czech Republic has maintained the tradition of presenting books on Christmas and New Year. On New Year, the turn at the supermarkets selling food is as long as at the bookstores. As for the local Armenians, they more prefer the Internet, although the older generation is reading with great pleasure, both magazines and books,” the editor-in-chief of “Orer” magazine is convinced.
