The musicians of the Armenian State Youth Orchestra periodically go on business trips world with the aim of raising their qualification in highly reputable orchestras of the world. In particular, five musicians of the Youth orchestra, including the flute player Gevorg Avetisyan, oboist Tigran Vardanyan, clarinetist Davit Gyulamiryan, fagot player Nikolay Poghosyan, horn-player Armen Karagyan left for Germany from January 27-29 in order to undergo Lessons of Mastery in Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet.
Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet was founded in 1988 by Herbert von Karajan during the years of leading the Berlin Philharmonic. It was the first wind quintet, with rich traditions of chamber music, created within the world famous orchestra structure. The members of wind quintet are the musicians of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, who apart from the concert activity, carry out educational programs as well and pass down their experience to the youngsters.
Fagotist Nikolay Poghosyan found it very productive to have training courses with the musicians of Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet. Apart from individual professional trainings, classes were held with wood-wind quintet two hours a day. Nikolay Poghosyan mentions that Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra has no rivals in the world and the cooperation with such musical collective is a great achievement for any musician.
Nikolay Poghosyan notes that the musicians of Berlin Philharmonics were also glad for the cooperation and they underline the high professionalism of the performing art of the Armenian musicians. Berlin Philharmonic musicians expressed hope for the continuation of the cooperation with the musicians of the Youth orchestra. As a result an agreement was made to organize a joint concert in Yerevan with the participation of Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet and the Wind Ensemble of the Youth Orchestra.
