In an interview with Aravot.am, the owner of the Zoo, Styopa Vardanyan, said that he regrets and feels a pain that Gyumri has no zoo anymore. Today he said good-bye to his lions but he is comforted that at least they will not be hungry. “The Urtsadzor area is very interesting and comfortable, the decision of moving my lions there was adopted at the Ministry of Nature Protection. I am comforted that my lions will be in Armenia, today, I said goodbye to them, it is sad to depart after taking care of them for so long time, but what we can do. You know that I do not want my bears to go abroad…” said Styopa Vardanyan. He also said that as soon as the days get warm, the houses of the Zoo will be taken away from Ani district.
