“Parliament Distribution” company cueing “Alex Grig” company owned by NA lawmaker Samvel Alexanyan is an offshore registered company. This was told to Aravot.am by the company’s lawyer representative, lawyer Lernik Hovhannisyan at the court. Note that the lawsuit of “Parliament Distribution” company vs “Alex Grig” and “A&C” companies is in the Court of First of Instance of the Malatia-Shengavit administrative districts. “Parliament Distribution” Company representatives claim that the A&C” company is illegally using their brand and manufacture vodka with the trademark the company.
NA MP Samvel Alexanyan’s “Alex Grig” company sells these vodkas. “Parliament Distributions” requires not to produce and sell vodka under this brand. “The plaintiff is an unknown offshore-registered company, and there is doubt over the offshore-registered companies about whom they belong. It is possible that this is an order against “Alex Grig”. I would feel very bad to me if it were an order by some oligarch from outside because it is no secret that the vodka production in Russia is centralized, which means that Armenia is just one region for Russia, and the day after tomorrow, they can have an access to Armenia as the unit cost is much cheaper in their country.
The production of vodka may stop here, and it is a great loss for us, first of all, the alcohol plant will not work, serious problems will arise with both the taxation, our national brand and closure of workplaces,” the lawyer said. According to him, there was no need to sue “Alex Grig” because this issue was also possible to resolve out of court, “I have the impression that they want to once again raise Aleksanyan’s name but in a bad sense. The plaintiff should not have filed a court case, if he had sent a notice in advance, the issue would be settled down by out of court manner, period. These disagreements of this company should be only with producing organization – “A&C” company rather than with the selling company which is “Alex Grig”. Certainly, the law provides this opportunity to ban the seller, if no production – no seller.” Mr. Hovhannisyan said, “Alex Grig” is unaware, for example, whether “Parliament Distributions” has allowed other companies to use its trademark or not.
