During the combat operations going on in Karabakh-Azerbaijani border, on April 2-9, four “Mataghis” group ambulance vehicles were destroyed by the enemy. This was told to Aravot.am by the war veteran, Colonel Volodya Hovhannisyan who currently is in the positions of Mataghis bordering village. Mr. Hovhannisyan said that the ambulance vehicles have a special sign and look differently and the Armenian side would never fire at them or damage.
“Today, there were two sniper shots at the “Sisakan” brigade ambulance vehicles of the Karabakh forces. Fortunately, nobody was injured. However, the Azerbaijani side continues to fire on ambulance vehicles, which is a brazen violation of the Geneva Convention, the Red Cross and the Red Crescent laws,” said our interlocutor adding that he conveys this information as a witness, “Just now, I saw an ambulance vehicle shot by the sniper.” In an interview with Aravot.am, RA Defense Ministry Spokesman, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, said that the ministry is aware of one case of the described incidents. It is a flagrant violation of the international humanitarian conventions. Other details will become clear soon.
