This year, the “Yerevan Perspectives” International Music Festival founded in 2000 will celebrate several anniversaries. General manager of the Festival, Sona Hovhannisyan, told “Aravot” that the “Yerevan Perspectives” Music Academy founded in Byurakan will celebrate its first anniversary. On April 4, they are planning to summarize the anniversaries as well as the productive last year at the upcoming press conference by the concerts in Armenia and abroad. “It is symbolic that April 4 it not only one year of the foundation of our Academy in Byurakan but we also have one important event. One of the famous cultural political figure of Europe is arriving in Armenia from Belgium on study visit. He is Paul Dujardin, the founder and the president of Bozar House of Arts in Brussels. He is going to meet with our intelligence in Byurakan to discuss important issues, including the Armenia-EU relations in the context of the Eastern Partnership program, after which he will deliver a respective report at the European Union. I think it’s a remarkable visit that will have a significance as a meeting and in terms to sharing knowledge.
On the same day, at the Byurakan Art Academy, there will also be a small concert presented by “Gyurjiyev” band and “Hover” Choir. Among other works, Stepan Rostomyan’s works will also be performed since this day is also a jubilee for him. In short, we are going to have a busy day,” said Sona Hovhannisyan. For example, this year, we have invited a “Grammy” award-winner Estonia Men’s national choir. It is one of the best choirs in Europe, they have prepared a special Armenian repertoire and are going to sing in Armenian. Estonian National Men’s Choir. It is a very impressive program and some prices from Komitas-Yekmalyan works will also be performed. Incidentally, they performed this program also in St. Hovhannes Church in Tallin under the event “With You Armenia” series of events last year. In Armenia, the Estonian choir will deliver a concert in the Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator, it will be an exclusive concert. April 24 dawn will be opened by their concert and the church bells. Since the genocide victims are already canonized as martyrs, such a concert will be appropriate for their memory. On April 26, we are planning to hold the 15th jubilee evening of our festival. It was planned to have it last year because the festival was founded in 2000 but last year, we were not celebrating anything else but the 100th anniversary of the genocide. Numerous guests are expected: musicians and delegates. We hope that we will have a final beautiful evening on the activities of the festival and will receive a lot of feedback.”
