“This is a territory where the memories are alive,” – announced MEP Frank Engel on April 23 at the second global forum on “Against the genocide crime.” He noted that a progress is noticed in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as an example, he illustrated one of the Turkish newspaper that had published an article one year ago under the Armenian headline “Aylevs Yerbek” (“Never again”) title published an article a year ago. According to him, now, on the 101th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the world has been divided into two parts.

Frank Engel also spoke about the four-day war, “It is not difficult to guess who started this war. It should be launched by a state which is motivated, the aggressor is the state which has displayed aggression over these years, which as a result of its actions was deprived of Nagorno-Karabakh. I stand up for the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh. For there is a clear difference that in the Soviet Union there was no formal difference whether you are in Baku or Stepanakert, it was Azerbaijan. If now you criticize the authorities in Stepanakert, then you may appear in the parliament. If you have a critical view in Baku, you cannot only be elected but you will be sent to jail.” He added, “If we do not stand next to Karabakh, genocide can reoccur.”
