That’s that with the tales!

April 27,2016 12:00

When a person has a problem but does not know how to solve this problem (or rather to say, does not have the will to think in that direction), he is trying to divert his attention by getting some “fun”. For example, a young man who has lost his job begins to eat more or drink or smoke. It certainly does not solve his problem, on the contrary, it somehow worsens because this person begins respecting himself less by being indulged in overeating or in alcoholism. Incidentally, it may also not be “fun”, the teenager could run away from the family problems by pricking his body with a sharp object. Or, could generally be something foolish, therewith, the rich is trying to compensate his worthlessness and weakness of the soul with a golden toilet bowl. The ways of running away from the problems are different but the mechanism is the same.

Then comes the next and more dangerous stage. Giving himself to allegedly “consoling” but actually self-ruining habits, the man creates his illusory “I” and comes to the false conclusion that these habits are integral parts of his character. He begins to think about himself, “I am a glutton”, “I am a drunkard”, “I’m a masochist”, and “I’m greedy.” By creating this myth about himself, he is trapped in its own “spiritual jail” by completely rejecting contacting with real life.

The same happened to the groups of people, as well as to the nations. Driven by some objective and historical circumstances, we often, also in the 20th century, are entering into our shells, “we have a long-suffering nation”, “we use to cheat each other”, “we do not back up one another”, “we are undisciplined.” This was our illusory “I”. We thus are spreading lies about ourselves to justify the disgraceful fact that we were unable to build a state in 25 years.

But times have changed, and a new generation has grown up in these 25 years who is ready to face the reality and who deny our concocted stereotypes not in words but by deeds. Their behavior both in the front and in Yerevan, including (do not be surprised) in Baghramyan Avenue, contains the following, “That’s that with the tales! We come out of from the shells of our bad habits and we are not afraid of the real problems.”

Our political elite and, first of all, of course, the authorities are not sufficiently sensitive and flexible to understand that the situation has changed dramatically, they still continue to live in petty, “prewar” passions. Worse for them.
