Different priorities

May 04,2016 12:02

Armenia’s first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan left for Artsakh to meet with the NKR leadership. Both this move and before it, the meeting with President Serzh Sargsyan gives rise to various interpretations. Those who necessarily want to see the negative in everything express their “reasonable” suspicions up to “prompting on how Karabakh must be surrendered”. These suspicions, in my opinion, are from the series of petty, craven and philistine conversations, which always existed but they look more inopportune in these days.

Here, it is not the place to discuss the positive and negative aspects of Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s passed path. I will briefly repeat my once expressed idea: we have not yet had such a president, such an opposition (the matter is about his prior to April 1, 2016, opposition activities) we have had a lot and will still have. But after the active combat operations resumed in April, the posture of the first president and the ANC, I think, is an example for other political forces.

There are priorities for any person and citizen which he demonstrates every day and every second but they become especially evident in the extreme and “bordering” situations. The priority for someone is his own stomach, purse, castle, car and most of our functionaries are as such. For the other one, it is a political fight, whose objectives could be very honest but could also be the same stomach and purse. The third one just loves to sit in a real or virtual “pavilion” and complain by repeating the true and false rumors, let’s say, allegedly our soldiers are hungry, barefoot and so on. People are anxious and are thinking about the nation.

The priority for the first president is the state because it is obvious that now not only Artsakh’s but also our state’s existence is resolved. He certainly had done a lot of right and wrong moves during his political career but he has never tried to steal people’s emotions making them a political capital. There are figures and citizens who believe that now it is the right time and a good reason for it. My respect to everyone, I am just stating that there are different approaches to life and the state.

Everyone is free to express his or her attitudes, also in our newspaper. And my approach (which some people might not like it) is the flowing: it is a war and each of us must do everything possible and impossible to defend our country from enemy attack. The rest can be put for later.
