The number of 37 citizens of Armenia appeared in the offshore is not a big number for NA MP Khosrov Harutyunyan. “I am not familiar with this published list of 37 citizens, however, associating these people with illegal, financial transactions and mechanizations is less likely. Having money in an offshore zone does not mean having billions, thirty-seven citizens are not a big number. Maybe by saying funds registered in offshore, we are talking about 150-200.000 dollar, and any established scientist when working abroad could afford that much amount with his honoraria over the years if not much more,” opines Khosrov Harutyunyan.
Note that “Hetq” published the names of the citizens of Armenia who have appeared in the Panamanian documents. The list also contains academicians. “I do not know these scientists and am not familiar with their scientific activities. It is difficult for me to comment. But if they have done a work outside Armenia, it is very possible that these works were paid good and the representative of the scientific sector, especially in the field of natural science, could keep funds in an offshore. I think it is less likely that this contingent was engaged in the export of capital, I also think it is less likely that these names have been used by someone and are false. One thing is obvious when we say an offshore scandal, we all think that such persons will pop up who are occupying political or public positions who can use their political and public capabilities for their own purposes. I do not know what kind of figure we are talking about, should I know, I would compare them with the results of their activities and it would be possible to analyze. But only the fact that they offshore opened accounts, it cannot be considered condemning.
